The SMA Home & Small Commercial Energy Solution premiered at the Intersolar trade fair in 2026. The first components of this new system have now arrived at our warehouses– and are available from stock right away.
The fully integrated solution offers a scalable, reliable and future-proof energy supply for homes and small commercial projects, featuring SMA’s industry-leading standards in cyber security. The system, which is manufactured in Europe (Poland), is comprised of the three-phase Sunny Tripower Hybrid X, the SMA Storage M and the SMA Backup. true to the motto ‘Better where it matters’, the components offer numerous advantages both individually and when combined as a system, setting new standards compared with existing solutions. Let's have a look at the product highlights.
Sunny Tripower Hybrid X
At the heart of the solution is the new Sunny Tripower Hybrid X, which will replace the Sunny Tripower Smart Energy. The three-phase hybrid inverter is available in nine power classes ranging from 5 to 30 kW (5 / 6 / 8 / 10 / 12 / 15 / 20 / 25 / 30). It comes with three or four MPP trackers (from inverters with 20 kW upwards), making it particularly useful for complex roof structures. In combination with ShadeFix, the inverter is great for systems with varying roof orientations or partial shading. The low start-up voltage of 90 V (or 120 V for the inverters with a power rating of 20 kW or more) provides additional flexibility. This allows for shorter strings. Furthermore, roof areas or dormers that were previously difficult to utilise can be integrated efficiently now.

Integrated: Cloud-based energy management
The ‘X’ in the name points to another feature: As all ennexOS-based inverters, the Sunny Tripower Hybrid X comes with a powerful energy management system that coordinates power generation, storage and consumption – tailored to individual requirements. Additional hardware, such as the Sunny Home Manager or the SMA Data Manager M, is not required but can still be integrated if desired.
There are two versions to choose from – find out more about the exact range of features on the SMA product page:
- Energy Planner: manual planning, configuration and simple rule-based control of energy flows by the user
- Energy Maximizer: Enables the implementation and use of dynamic electricity tariffs. Energy flows are continuously optimised based on forecasts, tariffs and real-time data – entirely without manual intervention. The Energy Maximizer is activated via SMA Premium. It can be tested free of charge for the first 90 days.

SMA Storage M
The SMA Storage M, is SMA's latest high-performance and exceptionally compact high-voltage storage system for flexible applications. In combination with the Sunny Tripower Hybrid X or the Sunny Boy Smart Energy, the modular system can be easily expanded from 12.3 kWh (3 battery modules) to 49.1 kWh (12 battery modules) of usable capacity per tower, depending on project requirements.
The Storage M is designed with safety as a top priority and features state-of-the-art protective measures – in the BMS as well as at cell, module and system level. Its high charging and discharging performance, with up to two cycles per day, is ‘best-in-class’, making the storage system ideal for dynamic electricity tariffs. As solar professionals, you will also benefit from straightforward installation: the battery modules, weighing just 36 kg, are easily stackable; there are no internal cable connections, enabling quick and convenient installation even in confined spaces.

SMA Backup
Is your customer looking for a backup power supply? This is where the SMA Backup comes in. When used in combination with the Sunny Tripower Hybrid X, it enables automatic switching between grid-connected and off-grid operation. This ensures that critical loads throughout the building remain reliably powered, even in the event of a grid failure.
SMA Backup integrates seamlessly into a wide variety of installation scenarios, in both new and existing systems. It is available as either a 3-pole or 4-pole version and is in stock, available as a kit for control cabinet installation or as a pre-assembled box with a housing for installation outside the control cabinet.
