We at EWS are expanding our module portfolio: The Vertex S+ Shield NED9R.28 from Trinasolar is a new solution for rooftop projects with particularly high requirements for load-bearing capacity, hail resistance, and fire protection. This new product features a black frame and white sheet and will be available from stock starting in late October 2026. You can place your order now.
The high-performance module delivers up to 470 W and 23.5% efficiency with n-type i-TOPCon cells. It is compatible with current inverters, optimizers, and mounting systems. A key feature of the Vertex S+ Shield is its durability and reliability in extreme environmental conditions:
- It features a robust dual-glass construction with 2.5 mm-thick front glass and 2.0 mm-thick rear glass. With compact dimensions of 1,762 × 1,134 × 30 mm and a weight of 27 kg, the module offers high mechanical stability. This design allows for loads of up to +7,000/-5,000 Pa and ensures long-term, reliable system operation.
- The module has successfully passed the rigorous VKF HW4 hail test. This certification by the Association of Cantonal Fire Insurers (VKF), recognized throughout Switzerland, tests resistance to hailstones with a diameter of up to 40 mm — one of the most demanding standards for solar modules in Europe. According to the manufacturer, the NED9R.28 can even withstand hailstones up to 55 mm in diameter, making it particularly suitable for regions with an increased risk of severe weather (for instance: Southern Germany, Northern Italy, Austria, or Switzerland).
- In addition, the Vertex S+ Shield has achieved fire safety certification Class A+A — the highest level under IEC 61730. This provides additional safety when planning PV systems for residential and commercial buildings. This certification can be a particularly relevant selection criterion for projects with increased fire safety standards.
Trinasolar offers a 25-year product warranty and a 30-year performance warranty for this new product — with a maximum degradation rate of 1 % in the first year and 0.4 % per year from year 2 through year 30. Thus, the Vertex S+ Shield NED9R.28 is an attractive solution for those of your customers who, in addition to high energy yield, place particular value on long-term, reliable power generation even under the harshest conditions.
